Merry Christmas,
Our hearts are full. God has been so good to us this past year. During this holiday season we would like to share with you the many ways God has shown Himself faithful to us here at camp this year. There are always challenges that lie ahead and much work to be done, but right now we would like to say thank you and mention a few of the many things we can be thankful for.
We are thankful that we were able to have camp this summer. After all spring programs were cancelled it was a fun and happy day to see our first campers show up in June. Throughout the summer and fall we have had to think outside the box to run activities. However, when the dust finally settled here in December we had run over 400 more camper days than any year before. For this we praise the Lord!
Spring did not look exactly like we had planned, but volunteers still came and worked independently to get many projects accomplished. Their willingness to come throughout year and serve by faith, building, cleaning, and ministering to God’s little ones was what made camp all possible. Some of the projects worked on this year.
- An 80 foot stone retaining wall for the corral, landscaped with flowers and mulch.
- A beautiful new concrete floor in the pavilion.
- An improved serving area and wash station for campers to clean up before lunch.
- Safe, portable shooting stands were built for our summer archery activities.
- A beautiful 20 foot lighted cross installed to greet you as you enter the woods at camp.
- Renovations were made in the tack shed and a portable stage and new child-sized benches were built for the long house. Many gallons of hot soapy water, paint, and stain were applied to many worn out areas.
We were also able to run a number of new activities this fall: Elementary Science day camps for kids, a Grown-ups night out, a monthly Ladies Night of Worship, and monthly Pastors’ Enrichment Days.
Much of the reason we have been able to host more activities is because we have more help. In January God brought Cody and Cora Whitmoyer to us to work full time here at camp. Whether it’s building, giving a devotional, building online registration forms or saddling horses, Cody has been well suited to do each job well. The Whitmoyers have been a great answer to prayer. It has been no less then a miracle how God has provided this last year for them here at camp. Many one time gifts and donations have allowed us to pay them the entire year. Our goal is to bring their monthly support to $2000.00 a month; we are already at $500.00. We are praying for folks who would commit to supporting the Whitmoyers on a monthly basis throughout the year.
We are looking forward to next year and what God might do. The summer camp dates are on the calendar for 2021. Much is going on over the winter; we are training horses, improving activity areas, shoveling snow, filling in the calendar as we plan events, and praying God brings a camp full of campers next summer.
God has been so good to us, we can’t say thank you enough for your prayers and help throughout this last year. We have been blessed with many wonderful staff and gifted volunteers. In God’s providence He has protected and provided for us. By His grace we anticipate Him working in many campers lives again next summer. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Because He lives,
Tom Hiduk
