From the NY border to Tunkhannock, PA. Every $71 raised helps bridge the gap for one camper for next year's summer camp. Kayaking for Campers is a fun fundraising event to help with camper registrations and the rising costs of camp. Our goal is to find 245 camper sponsors by the time Tom get's to Tunkhannock. The epic trip will take place Sept. 8-12th. Kayaking for our Campers, Raising Funds for an Epic Challenge

It is a race by the boy and the girls to see who finds him first. He may be under some leaves, in a hole in a stump or even climbing up a tree. Named by the campers years ago, Theodore, means “gift of God.” It is a fitting name as we desire for each camper to search for God’s gift every morning. So, we named the fall campaign Project Theo!

Directing traffic on the first day of camp is always exciting. I love seeing excited campers in minivans trying to poke their heads out the windows to take in this whole new experience. Many times, grandpas are given the task of shuttling the young campers to camp on time. Most Grandpas are laid back, usually early, and always have a witty comment for the traffic guy. This year, as I stood there waving my arms in directional signals, the thought occurred to me, “Where would we be without grandparents?”

A simple guiding principle here at camp is that the camp belongs to the camper. It simply means that the camper is at the heart of everything we do. I think the other part to that principle that needs to be added is that camp is built by grandparents. Simply put, what would happen if grandpa; or grandma never came to camp?

For one, there wouldn’t be very many buildings or fun activities. When the Longhouse was built, it was completed in seven weeks, and the average age of the volunteer was 65 years old. We would have no playing fields because all the mowing is done by grandads. There would be no corrals to hold horses, lights to light dark paths, or cozy cabins for tired campers. Without grandmas there would be no fires started for s’mores, brownies, cookies, or cakes made for dessert. There would be fewer crafts, fewer clean bathrooms, and fewer flowers around camp. There wouldn’t be beautiful cabinets built, no lumber milled, or birdhouse parts cut for crafts. The list goes on and on. Where would we be if grandpa never came to camp? Grandpas have given vision for planning, use of tools when building, and time, talent, and treasure when needed.

We can’t say thank you enough for the grandparents that have made camp possible. Your words of encouragement, prayers of faith, and labors of love have made camp what it is. For many a camper whose life has changed here at camp, it is because of the day that grandpa came to camp.

Merry Christmas,

Our hearts are full. God has been so good to us this past year. During this holiday season we would like to share with you the many ways God has shown Himself faithful to us here at camp this year. There are always challenges that lie ahead and much work to be done, but right now we would like to say thank you and mention a few of the many things we can be thankful for.

We are thankful that we were able to have camp this summer. After all spring programs were cancelled it was a fun and happy day to see our first campers show up in June. Throughout the summer and fall we have had to think outside the box to run activities. However, when the dust finally settled here in December we had run over 400 more camper days than any year before. For this we praise the Lord!

Spring did not look exactly like we had planned, but volunteers still came and worked independently to get many projects accomplished. Their willingness to come throughout year and serve by faith, building, cleaning, and ministering to God’s little ones was what made camp all possible. Some of the projects worked on this year.

- An 80 foot stone retaining wall for the corral, landscaped with flowers and mulch.

- A beautiful new concrete floor in the pavilion.

- An improved serving area and wash station for campers to clean up before lunch.

- Safe, portable shooting stands were built for our summer archery activities.

- A beautiful 20 foot lighted cross installed to greet you as you enter the woods at camp.

- Renovations were made in the tack shed and a portable stage and new child-sized benches were built for the long house. Many gallons of hot soapy water, paint, and stain were applied to many worn out areas.

We were also able to run a number of new activities this fall: Elementary Science day camps for kids, a Grown-ups night out, a monthly Ladies Night of Worship, and monthly Pastors’ Enrichment Days.

Much of the reason we have been able to host more activities is because we have more help. In January God brought Cody and Cora Whitmoyer to us to work full time here at camp. Whether it’s building, giving a devotional, building online registration forms or saddling horses, Cody has been well suited to do each job well. The Whitmoyers have been a great answer to prayer. It has been no less then a miracle how God has provided this last year for them here at camp. Many one time gifts and donations have allowed us to pay them the entire year. Our goal is to bring their monthly support to $2000.00 a month; we are already at $500.00. We are praying for folks who would commit to supporting the Whitmoyers on a monthly basis throughout the year.

We are looking forward to next year and what God might do. The summer camp dates are on the calendar for 2021. Much is going on over the winter; we are training horses, improving activity areas, shoveling snow, filling in the calendar as we plan events, and praying God brings a camp full of campers next summer.

God has been so good to us, we can’t say thank you enough for your prayers and help throughout this last year. We have been blessed with many wonderful staff and gifted volunteers. In God’s providence He has protected and provided for us. By His grace we anticipate Him working in many campers lives again next summer. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Because He lives,
